Bob Maxfield says he planned to spend the night on his boat, the Bette II, during the hurricane, but when things got rough, he moved upstairs into the apartment at Nichols Seafood Restaurant. Nichols owner Pasco Gibson Jr. stayed in the apartment with Maxwell until midnight, then left to be with his family.
